Résumé
This review article highlights selected advances in the synthesis of spirocyclopropyl carbohydrates and nucleosides. The cyclopropyl moiety is a versatile functional group which was demonstrated to facilitate the preparation of a vast scope of value-added compounds, such as β-C-glycosyl amino acids, spiroketals, dioxaspirolactones, among others. Moreover, this review also describes the use of spirocyclopropyl carbohydrates as glycomimetic inhibitors of biologically relevant enzymes including glycosidases, protein methyltransferase, kinase, and viral polymerases.
