Abstract

This study shows the impact that an activity organized around ICT professions can have on the perception on ICT related-professions among students aged between 10 and 18 years old based in the city of Namur. Indeed research has shown that it’s in this age range that they’re the most influenced about their career path. Many factors like stereotypes, family influence and more discourage, give a negative and false vision on how it is to work in ICT areas. The activity consisted in presenting selected ICT related-professions which are less known to pre-university students to make them discovering these professions. The study design used to capture the activity impact on the participants was the pre-post one, a specific questionnaire has been distributed to students before and after the activity. The result from this study was positive, participants could learn new professions from ICT sector which didn’t match with their perception on them based on negative influences.
