Abstract
In 1995, adapted work companies (ETA) were created in Belgium. The aim of these companies was to enable people with disabilities to be included in the labour market. The career paths are built up over the course of the disability, but also according to the positioning of the ETA on an organisational continuum that oscillates between benevolence and productivity. This qualitative survey carried out in an ETA in French-speaking Belgium shows how ageing at work cannot be reduced to a question of age but must be considered in a complex way, taking into account the whole life course as well as the organisational structures in which they take place. The recent transformations in the sector may well reinforce the constraints of profitability and lead de facto to an increased risk of premature exit from employment for this already fragile population.
