Introduction
Jeroen Darquennes is professor of German linguistics. His research focuses on language contact and conflict in European language minority settings. He is the author of numerous publications on aspects of language policy and planning in Europe, the lead editor of HSK45.1-Language Contact (2019, de Gruyter) with Joe Salmons (Madison, WI) and Wim Vandenbussche (Brussels) as co-editors, one of the general editors of Sociolinguistica (a series founded in 1987 and published by de Gruyter) and a member of the editorial board of international journals such as the Journal of Historical Sociolinguistics (de Gruyter) and Language, Culture & Curriculum (Routledge), of which he was associate editor between 2013 and 2016. He was head of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures between 2012 and 2015 and appointed commissioner of the 'German year' (année allemande) at the University of Namur in 2014. He currently heads the Namur Institute of Language, Text and Intermediality (NaLTT). In September 2017, he joined the team of the Vice-Rector in charge of internationalisation at UNamur. Together with the Vice-Rector he has the task of further developing and streamlining UNamur’s internationalisation policy.
