Résumé
On the periphery of the home help profession. Polyphonic debates between ethical positions and professional ethos The profession of home help has been an important link in the care of the disabled, the elderly or the sick in Belgium for many years. These professionals provide support to families in the tasks of daily life. Based on the ethical debates that took place during focus groups with those professionals on the delimitation of legitimate acts in their practice, the aim of this article is to highlight both the variety of ethical positions and, at the same time, a common concern for the professional ethos, its delimitation and recognition. This article will show to what extent these polyphonic debates question the core of the profession but also its periphery and to what extent the crisis of Covid-19 has redefined the stakes of the profession as well as its legitimacy. © 2023 Fondation Nationale de Gerontologie.
