Profil personnel

Présentation

Since February 2013, employed as a post-doc researcher at the COS (chimie organique de synthèse) Laboratory, Department of Chemistry, University of Namur. Involved in the development of a continuous microfluidic process for the production of hydrogen peroxide by direct synthesis with a minimalised ecological footprint. Also working on other chemistry projects, including syntheses of biologically active compounds by means of flow chemistry and other techniques. 2008 - 2013, in the framework of multi-partner projects such as CANTOL, HOPE4PD and Télévie, worked on the development, synthesis and up-scaling of small molecule enzyme inhibitors and receptor modulators for pharmaceutical purposes. Also involved in research coordination and student training. 2004 - 2007, researcher in the medicinal chemistry laboratory of 4AZA Bioscience / elbion Bioscience) in Leuven, Belgium. In collaboration with various partners, synthesis and SAR of novel heterocyclic derivatives as new immunosuppressive and anti-schizophrenic agents. 2000 - 2004, PhD student at the Chemistry Department, KULeuven, Synthesis of novel porphyrin and oligopyrrole derivatives. Some of these compounds were successfully used in analytical systems for determination of small molecules. 1996 - 2000 at the Rudjer Boskovic Institute, Zagreb, Croatia, development and synthesis of derivatives of the plant growth hormone indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), mainly as molecular probes for research on indole-binding proteins involved in IAA biosynthesis. Part of this work is described in my MSc thesis obtained from the University of Zagreb in 2000.

Domaines de compétence

Solution phase synthesis, homogenous catalysis, MW assisted synthesis, continuous flow and microreactor technology, one- and two-dimensional NMR, MS, HPLC, UV/VIS spectroscopy, freeze drying, GC, automatised flash chromatography, SAR, PD/PK analysis, young researchers training, general and specialised computer skills.
