Christophe LAZARO

Christophe Lazaro, docteur en droit, diplômé en philosophie et en anthropologie, est chercheur postdoctoral à l’Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA, Lyon). Dans ce cadre, il mène des recherches interdisciplinaires consacrées aux notions de « contrôle » et d’ « agency » dans le champ de la vie privée et de la protection des données personnelles. Il a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en sciences juridiques à l’Institut Universitaire Européen (EUI,Florence). Sa thèse, intitulée « La fabrication juridique d’un corps hybride : regard pragmatique sur les rapports entre droit et technologies prothétiques », porte sur les problèmes juridiques et philosophiques liés à l’intégration d’artéfacts techniques au sein du corps humain. Il a été chercheur au CRIDs pendant plusieurs années (2000-2008) et a participé à plusieurs projets de recherches et à l'élaboration de rapports relatifs à la gouvernance de la société de l'information, au commerce électronique et à la vie privée pour le compte des institutions fédérales belges, de la Communauté européenne et du Conseil de l'Europe. Depuis 2006, il est également chercheur associé au Laboratoire d'Anthropologie Prospective (LAAP) de l'Université de Louvain. Ses intérêts de recherche en anthropologie concernent concernent les Science and Technology Studies, les identités et environnements virtuels, ainsi que le transhumanisme et les « enhancement technologies ».

Christophe Lazaro is a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA) where he is conducting an interdisciplinary research related to the notions of “consent” and “control” in the field of privacy and data protection. He received his PhD in Law from the European University Institute (EUI). His thesis, “The legal fabrication of a hybrid body: a pragmatic approach to law and prosthetic technologies”, is focused on the legal and philosophical impact of new technologies on the human body and agency. He also has a post-graduate degree in Anthropology and graduate degree in Philosophy. After his studies, he worked for many years as a researcher in the Research Centre Information, Law and Society of the University of Namur (CRIDs). He was part of the CRIDs’ expert group responsible for drafting a report on the application of Convention 108 to the Profiling Mechanism for the Council of Europe. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Laboratory for Prospective Anthropology of the University of Louvain (LAAP). His research interests in anthropology include sciences and technologies studies, digital identities and communities, enhancement technologies and transhumanism.
