Experiences, models and perspectives on the right to participation in the Juvenile Justice system - Twelve Project - Final seminar

The final seminar of the TWELVE project took place yesterday, Thursday 17th of March 2015, in Brussels. Professionals and officials working with and for children in conflict with the law, institutional actors, academics, and NGO stakeholders from different European countries participated in a Round Table aimed at sharing experiences, models and perspectives on the right to participation in the juvenile justice system. The Handbook "TWELVE - Children's right to participation and the juvenile justice system, theory and practices from implementation", which is the main output of the project, was presented during the final seminar. The Handbook is a result of collective reflections and shared experiences in EU Member States involving both professionals and adolescents in contact with the juvenile justice field. It is available both in electronic and printed version. The main objective of the Handbook is to offer inspiration and guidance on how to make the participation of children in the juvenile penal justice system more effective and meaningful. It has been conceived as a practical tool aimed at promoting an understanding of participation as an essential element of a child-rights based approach within the juvenile justice system.
