In this work, we illustrate the process of surface optimization. We have chosen to model progressive addition lenses. This type of lens has the particularity to have a varying ophtalmic power in the different parts of the lens. To design this type of lens, we have to solve an associated optimization problem. The interface we have developed runs in MATLAB and uses tools like AMPL and KNITRO in the optimization phase.
