AbstractThis thesis covers different topics in the fields of development economics and applied econometrics. The part on development economics contains three chapters: a theoretical model on fair trade, an empirical paper on the functioning of micro-credit groups and a literature review on the demand for micro-insurance. The part on applied econometrics contains a methodological paper on eliciting expectations and a description of an implementation of some robust estimators in Stata.
