In this paper, we discuss the resolution of nonlinear complementarity problems.
They emerge in several fields, when among two nonnegative quantities,
one is null as soon as the other is not.
A reformulation as nonsmooth equations and then, as a differentiable minimisation problem
is proposed thanks to a complementarity function.
Resolution is performed by a nonmonotone trust-region method,
whose local and global convergence is established.
In a second time, a multilevel approach of complementarity problems is considered.
We study how to define a coarser version of the problem, either by discretizing
the NCP-reformulation or directly, just before applying the NCP-reformulation process.
