Abstract
The use of glass ionomer cement for mastoid obliteration, reconstruction of the external ear canal, closure of the translabyrinthine approach for acoustic neuroma and fixation of a cochlear implant in the temporal bone is described. Preliminary results are encouraging, although some epithelialisation defects may occur in the external ear canal.
