    Abstract

Through the study of an anonymous bilingual serial novel, co-written by Georges Eekhoud, this article discusses the issues of pseudo-translation in the sub-field of large-scale production in Belgium. It analyses, in particular, the way literary bilingualism is negotiated and dissimulated from paratext to text, and in a metafictional scenography in which Eekhoud renounces his original writing to the status of translation. Between pseudo-translation and pseudo-original, this popular text presents multiple impostures, while reflecting on its own enunciative conditions shaped by linguistic exchanges, auctorial management, and editorial pragmatism.
