    Abstract

Method of direct prodn. of chemical reactions, at a partic. depth inside a polymer film (18) through the stages: position the polymer film (18) on the path of a particle beam (14); select the nature of the particles beam as a function of their reactivity vis-a-vis the functional grouping and structure of the polymer; determine the energy of the particle beam as a function of the depth of the zone inside the polymer where the reaction is to occur; irradiate the film (14) with the particle beam selected at the chosen energy. The incident energy of the beam is controlled at 100 eV - some ions of KeV and the particles are neutral or charged. The beam is guided to charge position (24) and a mask (28) may be used.
