Abstract
Contemporary public decision-makers govern democracies under tension. Whether it is a crisis, a fatigue or a mutation, the link between decision-makers and citizens is now widely considered to be subject to transformation. This issue questions the legitimacy of public decision-makers and their place in the architecture of contemporary democracies. In this time of a reassessment of the representative model, this article examines how public decision-makers perceive their own positions and view political representation. Finally, the analysis focuses on the place decision-makers give to more direct citizen participation in decision-making.
