Abstract

The current crisis of confidence in the political world makes almost everyone agree that we need an electroshock in the way our democracy works. However, it remains to find an adequate and plausible participatory model in the Belgian context. A brief look at a recent experiment in local democracy in Louvain-la-Neuve, in the development of which the authors of this text participated, offers perspectives for rethinking the place of the population in the public sphere in our country and beyond. With one watchword: putting citizens back at the centre of politics.
