Abstract

Despite this limitation, ABD with backscatter imaging is a promising new technique that permits clinically meaningful quantification of LV volumes and ejection fraction. It therefore constitutes an important step toward truly quantitative echocardiography. It is hoped that future developments will reduce the need for operator manipulation and improve the reliability of the technique.
