Les conditions de la production monétaire dans le Péloponnèse durant l'Antiquité: ateliers civiques ou ateliers indépendants ?

It is generally held that each Greekcity possessed its own mint to strike its coins. However, stylistical similarities as well as identities of mint marks between Argive coins and other Peloponnesian coinages ofthe Classical period revealthat in this region mints obviously worked for several different cities. Similar evidence suggests that this pattern of coin production was in place there from the inception of coinage in the late Archaic period to the Severan era at least. In such a scheme, Argive coins can not be considered separately from of the other Peloponnesian coinages, paving thus the way for a “large sets” numismatic.
