Abstract

This introductory article reports some elements of answer to the question: What is the state of academic research in management sciences related to the territory as it emerges from an accounting examination of recent French-speaking managerial literature? To do this, we use data extracted from Cairn.info, an online portal for journals in the humanities and social sciences. This portal lists, all fields combined, nearly five hundred French-language journals. The selection is made in three steps. The first step is to identify research work within which the two territorial and managerial dimensions occupy an important place. Then, in the second step, we focus our accounting analysis on the articles relating to the fields of economics and management sciences and coinciding to the research descriptor “territory”. Finally, in a third step, we put an emphasis in our analysis on academic articles relating solely to management sciences. These articles were identified on the basis of French-language journals in management sciences, being listed or not in the Cairn.info database. In order to retain only the articles having the "territory" in their subject, the documentary research was carried out on the basis of the title of the articles. We report on publications by research area and identify the most contributing journals in terms of publication. A quick review of the content of management science publications is proposed, in relation to the themes, theoretical references and methodological approach. We then present the six articles composing the special issue ‘Articulating Organizational Strategy and Territorial Strategy: Managerial Analyzes’.
