Abstract
Through an epistemological maneuver which is examined in the article, Gottmann re-oriented geography by placing it in the realm of the sciences of organization and structures. It is in this very structuralist orientation, in our opinion, that the value of his theory lies, although it was aknowledged as such neither by geographers, nor by the main representatives of structuralism.
