abstract = "Traditionally, social protection in Belgium has adhered to the corporatist model. However, the transformations observed in recent years in the elder care sector truly show a paradigm shift. This contribution analyses the penetration of neo-liberal logics into this sector, in particular through an increasing presence of the private sector in retirement homes and a transformation of the public authorities{\textquoteright} role in the management of old age. The consequences of these new policies affect elderly people themselves, their families and the professionals in the sector. Women caregivers are particularly under pressure in this context of change.",
