Abstract

Pouillet’s law of electricity states that the resistance of a conductor having the shape of a right prism is directly proportional to its length and inversely proportional to the area of its cross section. This law is here generalized in any system of orthogonal curvilinear coordinates to geometrical objects that, in the curvilinear coordinate space, are represented by a right rectangular parallelepiped. A few applications of this new formulation are illustrated.
