Abstract
In our communication, we want to introduce the concept of "industrial ecosystem", which helps to understand the systemic challenges linked to industrial practices of resources and waste management. We illustrate this concept with European cases of the implementation of such industrial networks. These examples are essentially based on the network rationalisation of resources and waste. In the context of future creations of bio-refineries, this systemic approach could help to guarantee higher profit and sustainability through an optimal integration of such bio-refineries in the local agro-industrial environment.
