Abstract

Endoscopy of the middle ear is increasingly used in consultation to examine patients suffering from a pocket of tympanic retraction. The authors propose the adoption of the classification of retraction pockets given that endoscopy enables the monitoring of the bottom of certain pockets that are invisible under the microscope. They discuss the consequences of this adaptation to the evolutive follow-up of a retraction pocket, and therefore to surgical indications.
