Diffusion et application des méthodes culturales flamandes dans les anciens Pays-Bas méridionaux au XVIII siècle: Le témoignage de Jean-Baptiste Mondez, fermier en Hainaut autrichien

    Abstract

The purpose of this article is to show in practical terms, from a direct testimony written by a farmer from Austrian Hainaut, dissemination and application of cultural Flemish methods in ancient Southern Netherlands in the XVIII century. This kind of document reflects the image closer to the reality than usual administrative sources. It allows then to balance the idea, with a strong presence in a certain number of essays, of a stagnation of cereal yields within the agricol farms and a trivial influence from the agronomists on peasant practices in Europe of the northwest in the XVIII century.
