Abstract
This article aims at comparing three shorts films that belong to the Found Footage genre through the way the amateur family films that they are based on are turned into something personal. Even though these films by Olivier Smolders and Bouli Lanners do differ regarding their objective, tone, type and identity, the author of the article distingues somme similarities which are precisely inherent in the way they make use of amateur family films: a sense of Belgianness (which he defines as the presence of references to Belgium with some ironic distance) ; a critical look at amateur family films and, beyond that, a discourse on cinema.
