Abstract

In this paper, I first present the work of Judith Butler, feminist philosopher, and Cindy Sherman, photographer. It seeks to mobilize a philosophical way, particularly with Deleuze and Guattari, the virtual encounter between these two women who problematize the issue of gender and how gender is staged. The concepts of gender, sex, performativity and transgression of gender are exposed and unfolded to build nodes of meaning between Butler and Sherman. It includes an account of an experience of 'organized transgression' of its kind, conducted by three researchers from the University of Colorado, as a common scene in the testing of feminist theories denouncing heteronormativity.
