Abstract
The paper is an abstract of a tutorial presented at the 10th ERA conference. It presents a generic methodological framework for reverse engineering files and databases. This framework derives from an in-depth analysis of the developer's behaviour when designing databases. The tutorial emphasizes the elicitation of integrity constraints through procedural source code analysis, and the understanding of optimized data structures.
