A Multi-formalism Reuse-based Approach to Manufacturing Systems Modeling

Abstract

We present a manufacturing enterprise modeling framework based on the combination of three formalisms: CIMOSA, i* and Albert II. Each has strengths and weaknesses and it is therefore interesting to combine them in a single framework. The combination is made with the help of mapping rules. The resulting framework has a rich ontology of concepts with a precise semantics on the basis of which additional reusable models can be defined to speed up the modeling process.
