Sugar beet breeding

Project: PHD

Project Details

Description

Bolting, i.e. when a biennial plant runs to seed on the year of planting, can be triggered by vernalization. We study the control of the floral transition in sugar beet by cloning sequences orthologous to the ones known to control flowering in Arabidopsis thaliana. We then look for polymorphism of these genes in sugar beet genotypes.
