Genetical and biochemical approach of the functional role of the 3' terminal dimethylation of the rRNA from the small ribosomal subunit in eucaryotes

Project: PHD

Project Details

Description

In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the Dim1p protein is responsible for the dimethylation of two adenosines located at the 3' end of the 18S rRNA. In addition of its dimethyltransferase activity, Dim1p is involved in pre-rRNA maturation steps.
