Fundamental study of ionization mechanisms, fragmentation and degradation of matter under low energy ion bombardment

Project: PHD

Project Details

Description

The PhD thesis aims at understanding, on model systems, the ionisation mechanisms of atoms or small clusters emitted during the sputtering of matter with low energy ions (200-2000 eV). Experimental studies will be supported with modelling of small molecules and the work function influence. The experiments will start with inorganic surfaces (metals, Si, oxides), then will be followed on organic materials (simple polymers).
