Electrodynamical properties of carbon nanotubes in the near field

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Near the surface of a nanotube, the electromagnetic field is influenced by the electronic properties and the curvature of the tube. As a result, the electrodynamic mediated interaction between an atom and a nanotube have specific behavior. Among these, the van der waals attraction of an atom and the variation of the spontaneous decay of an excited atom nearby an investigated by quantum electrodynamics
