Description
The goal of data assimilation is to improve the quality of the numerical simulation of a
phenomenon through the use of observational data. The most common application of data assimilation
consists in determining the best initial condition for a forecast, from the knowledge of a previous forecast, of
collected data and of statistics on the uncertainty related to the two first sources of information.
