Bilayers Molecular Coating for electrical contact improvement

Project: PHD

Project Details

Description

Electrical contacts are protected against corrosion by a gold or silver layer. These are covered with a film of lubricant necessary for reducing the friction that destroys the metallic layer. In order to improve the performances of the connectors and to increase their lifetime, bilayers of organic molecules are studied. These are composed of a monolayer of organothiols on which a lubricant film is applied. The studied parameters are : the process of deposition, the composition of the monolayer (organothiols structures and their relative quantity) and the influence of the surface state.
