Paolo Tomassini

My research focuses on Roman wall painting, and more specifically on its technical and material aspects. This has led me to take an interest in a number of issues, such as the relationship between decoration and architecture, the work of the workshops, the evolution of painting techniques over time, and also virtual restoration and digital restitution. My favourite field of research is the ancient city of Ostia, the port of Rome.
