Introduction

Élise Rousseau is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the Tocqueville Chair in Security Policies (University of Namur) and a research fellow at the F.R.S.-FNRS. Before her FNRS mandate, she was a teaching assistant at the University of Namur and taught the tutorials of the following subjects: Political Science, International Relations: Theory and Practice (in English), Belgian Policy Issues, Philosophy, and Methods. In the framework of her thesis, conducted under the supervision of Thierry Balzacq, she investigates diplomatic practices in the Kimberley Process, the international forum created to regulate the rough diamond trade in order to prevent the diffusion of "conflict diamonds" in the global market. In the Tocqueville Chair in Security Policies, Élise conducts research on international denunciations, diplomacy and the ethics of International Relations. Thanks to the Gustave Boël-Sofina fellowship, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for International Peace and Security Studies (CIPSS - McGill, Canada) from September 2018 to March 2019. Afterwards, she did a research stay at the Centre de recherches internationales (Sciences Po Paris) and at the School of Politics and International Relations (Queen Mary University of London).
