Personal profile

Introduction

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Namur (Belgium), where I lead the Laboratory of Adaptive Biodynamics within the Research Unit of Environmental and Evolutionary Biology (Institute of Life, Earth, and Environment). Beyond this role, I am active at TRANSfarm, the pilot plant of KU Leuven (Belgium), and in the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden).

External responsibilities

I work as an ecotoxicologist and management committee member in the EU-funded consortium “One Health drugs against parasitic vector borne diseases in Europe and beyond” (COST Action CA21111), which aims to develop new drugs for vector-transmitted diseases with minimal environmental impact.

I lead the Zoology section of the Editorial Preprint team for Proceedings of the Royal Society B, the Royal Society’s flagship journal for biological sciences. Additionally, I am a member of the Editorial Board of Aquatic Toxicology.

I also advocate for inclusivity and openness in science, actively participating in various initiatives that promote these values. For example, I work to facilitate the international adoption of CRediT roles (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) in scientific publishing and promote open science principles as a local network lead for the Swedish Reproducibility Network.

Research interests

I consider myself an integrative biologist, and have a broad interest in how the environment affects the behavior and ecology of (aquatic) wildlife. I am also passionate about finding practical solutions to reduce our impact on the environment.
