Introduction

Alejandra Michel is Senior researcher in digital law and Head of the Media law research unit at the Research Centre in Information, Law and Society (CRIDS) of the University of Namur. She joined the CRIDS in August 2017, after obtaining a Master in Law (UClouvain - 2016) and a Master of specialisation in Digital Law (UNamur - 2017). As a researcher, Alejandra has been involved in fundamental and applied research projets at the European (H2020 & Horizon Europe), national (BRAIN/Belspo, FNRS) and regional (FEDER) levels. She has mainly worked on projects related to web archiving and social media archiving, smart cities, video surveillance (CCTVs), online platforms' regulation, online disinformation, access to information, and data sharing and reuse.

Her main research interests focus on media law and include human rights in the digital era (freedom of expression, right to information, right to respect for private life), the rights, duties and responsibilities of information providers, and the field of online content regulation.

Alejandra also teaches at the University of Namur "Numérique, droits fondamentaux et cybercriminalité" (Bachelor 3), "Droit des archives, liberté d'expression et numérique" (Master of specialisation in Archival science, Data management and data law), and "La vidéosurveillance et le droit au respect de la vie privée" (University certificate DATASAFE). She also teaches "regulation of online content" at the Catholic University of Lyon (LL.M. in European Digital Law).

Before joining the CRIDS, Alejandra worked for the Belgian press council for the French-speaking and German-speaking medias ("CDJ") and is therefore specialized in the fields of journalistic ethics and media law in general. She is now a member of the CDJ appointed for the civil society.

Alejandra is also the editorial secretary of the Revue du Droit des Technologies de l'Information (RDTI) and member of the editorial board of Auteurs & Média (A&M).
